TWe’re moving the time and the place: November 2013, in the Ft. Bragg Portuguese Hall, a lovely historical building where all the best local fish feeds take place.

We welcome you to check out our 2013 potential film list…we’ll be adding to it monthly.

Many films are already available to screen online, for those lucky folks with broadband internet – to make it easy, we’ve provided direct weblinks. Share with your friends!

2012 Salmon Film Festival

12 06 2012

JULY 6-7, 2012

We’re introducing a number of new releases (grizzly bears! musical animation!), all in support of our native salmon and regional salmon culture.

The first day of the festival (July 6th) is timed to coincide with the City of Ft. Bragg’s monthly “First Friday” downtown art walk, and runs from 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm.

The second day of the festival (July 7th), scheduled to run from 10:00 am – 10:00 pm, occurrs simultaneously with the 41st Annual Salmon BBQ, and is timed to allow barbeque attendees plenty of time to enjoy their salmon meal and still catch plenty of films.

The Salmon Film Festival is co-sponsored by the Salmon Restoration Association, the City of Fort Bragg, and the North Coast Brewing Company.

The 2012 Festival schedule and list of films is contained on the links associated with this website, and within this file: 2012 SFF Program

Hopefully the festival will be held in more than one site this year – for example, Ft. Bragg and Ukiah and Boonville and …?

As always, we are seeking sponsors, volunteers, and films for inclusion. Contact us!

More films!!

We’re excited to announce that a number of prominent filmmakers are express-mailing their films to us this week…and we’re going to do our best to squeeze the films into our programming.

Be sure to recheck the Friday and Saturday Schedules, the overall Festival Program, and our list of Films for new additions (and a few changes).

Best place to hang out during the festival!

We are encouraging festival-goers to spend some time at our favorite local coffeehouse, right around the corner from Town Hall.

Headlands Coffeehouse at 120 Laurel Street is open 7 am – 10 pm on the Film Festival days (Friday and Saturday), and from 7 am – 7 pm on Sunday.

(For those of you out-of-towners, getting to Headlands will help you locate Town Hall!)

Salmon Film Festival coming to Ft. Bragg!

3 05 2011

The first-ever Salmon Film Festival was held in July 2011.

The Salmon Film Festival was held in conjunction with the 40th Annual Salmon Barbeque in the Noyo Harbor, a major fundraising event held by the Salmon Restoration Association to support local salmon education and conservation programs. The barbeque, billed as the World’s Largest Salmon Barbeque, feeds thousands of salmon fans who flock to Noyo Harbor in Ft. Bragg, Mendocino County.

The Salmon Film Festival showed films focusing on salmon culture, ecology, and conservation. Thirty short and feature-length films will show community-based restoration projects and dam removals, Native American connections to salmon, the dangers of farmed salmon, and beautiful footage of salmon ecology throughout the Pacific Northwest.

The more popular films were featured on both days of the festival, allowing potential film-watchers more scheduling flexibility.

Filmmakers, educators, scientists and local experts accompanied the films and led the audience in question and answer sessions.
